Important Environmental Science Study from Our College Researchers!...

The research conducted by our vocational school faculty members Dr. İlker ŞİMŞEK and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür KUZUKIRAN was published in a prestigious international journal. The article, titled "Evaluation of Toxic Effects of Silver Micro and Nanoparticles and Silver Nitrate in Crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus)," was published in the Q1 category of the journal with an impact factor of 5.4.
In a study examining the environmental effects of silver compounds widely used in the cosmetics and textile industries, researchers reached important findings by examining the toxic effects of silver nitrate, silver microparticles and silver nanoparticles on freshwater crayfish.
Research results revealed that different forms of silver exhibit varying levels of toxicity to aquatic organisms. Silver nitrate, in particular, was observed to have significant effects on hemolymph parameters and to cause tissue damage in the gills. It was emphasized that particle size influences toxicity, and that nanoparticle silver should be evaluated
his study significantly contributes to a better understanding of the environmental risks associated with silver-based materials used in industrial applications. The findings provide valuable insights into sustainable industrial practices and environmental protection policies.
The international recognition of the research once again demonstrates our university`s success in scientific research.
